How to use this dashboard
Getting started
This dashboard shows all your fitness activities in one place. You can bring in data from Strava or by uploading files from your GPS device or fitness app. Here is everything you need to know to get going.
Syncing with Strava
- Make sure the backend is running — the indicator in the top bar should show a green dot labelled Backend. If it shows Start backend, click it.
- Click Sync Strava in the top bar.
- The dashboard will automatically reload once new activities have been imported.
Strava sync is incremental — it only fetches activities that are newer than the last sync, so it stays fast over time.
Importing local files
-
Place your export files in the
data/incoming/folder on the server. Supported formats: GPX, FIT, TCX, CSV, ZIP. - Make sure the backend is running (green dot in the top bar).
- Click Import data in the top bar.
- The dashboard reloads automatically when the import is done.
Files are tracked by a fingerprint so they are never imported twice.
Excluding an activity
- Go to the Activities page and click on any activity to open its detail page.
- Scroll down to the Manage activity section.
- Click Exclude from stats.
Excluded activities disappear from all stats and charts but are not deleted. You can restore them at any time from the same page by clicking Restore.
Duplicate activities
If you import the same activity from more than one source — for example a GPX file and Strava — the dashboard detects this automatically and groups them together.
Only the primary version (usually the Strava record) counts in your stats. The other versions are kept for reference and shown with a source badge on the activity detail page.
You can also mark an activity as a duplicate manually from its detail page if the automatic detection missed it.
The backend server
The small indicator in the top-right corner shows whether the backend service is running:
- Green — Backend: everything is ready. Import and sync buttons are active.
- Grey — Start backend: the backend is offline. Click the indicator to start it, then wait a few seconds for it to come online.
The backend must be running to import files or sync with Strava. Viewing the dashboard and browsing activities works without it.
